Introduction
Superorder Tylenchina. The female esophagus is composed of a procorpus,
metacorpus and a glandular postcorpus with an intervening isthmus between
the metacorpus and the glandular regions. A dorsal esophageal gland oriface
opens in the anterior procorpus. The metacorpus generally has a valve.
The stylet in males and females are generally with three basal knobs. The
male feeding apparatus is atrophied in some taxa. The lip region is distinct
or undifferentiated from the general body contour. Transverse body annualation
is generally interrupted by longitudinal incisures. Except in aberrant
males, the stoma are armed with a knobbed axial stylet. The glandular postcorpus
shows varying degrees of development; it may join the intestine directly
or overlap the anterior intestine for some distance. Females have one or
two genital branches. The oviduct has two rows of seven cells. Males generally
have caudal alae and paired spicules. The deirids are present or absent
