Definition:  Dorylaiminae.  Characterized by the possession of 4 cuticularized platelets surrounding the stoma entrance.  Lips offset by constriction, bearing an inner circlet of 6 apical and an outer one of 10 sublateral papillae.  Spear short and straight or long and slightly concave dorsally.  Junction of spear extension and oesophageal lumen surrounded by conspicuous muscle sheath.  Oesophagus dorylaimoid.  Female gonads paired, opposed, reflexed, or single.  Vulva transverse or as Maltese cross, where it is mentioned.  Spicules dorylaimoid, lateral guiding pieces present; gubernaculum absent.  Male hind end with non-contiguous, ventral series of supplements.  Tails of both sexes similar, short, conoid-rounded.
