The Zebra Mussel is notorious for its invasiveness.  It began its advance in the great lakes region around 1988 and was found in the Missouri river in 1999.  This small mussel is a prolific breeder and can easily plug irrigation systems and hydroelectric power stations.  Nebraska is on high alert for this species.
