West Nile Virus

This virus was first spotted in the U.S. in New York City in 1999 and has spread in all directions from there.  Mosquitoes transmit the virus to humans by feeding on humans after feeding on wild birds.  Crows and Blue jays seem to be most sensitive to the virus.

Minimizing exposure to mosquitoes and mosquito bites as well as eliminating mosquito breeding grounds are the best preventative measures.
