Aphelenchoides obtusus Thorne & Malek, 1968


Lateral fields with 4 minute incisures. Lip region set off by constriction. Spear 8u-10u long with small rounded knobs. Details of neck region as illustrated. Intestinal cells each with 2 nuclei. Esophageal glands extending back 4 times body width. Labia of vulva elevated; vagina extending in and forward; ovary with about 10 oocytes arranged in single file. Posterior uterine branch about twice as long as body width, serving as a spermatheca. Details of tails as illustrated.

Aphelenchoides obtusus is immediately distinguished among the smaller members of the genus by the rounded tails and double nuclei of intestinal cells.
