Definition:  Dorylaiminae.  Characterized by the possession of oval amphids with small openings.  Lip region amalgamated, continuous with the body contour.  Tails of both sexes similar, rounded or cylindrical-rounded.  Spear dorylaimoid; guiding ring appears in the double state.  Female gonads paired, opposed, reflexed.  Male spicules dorylaimoid;  lateral guiding pieces present.  There is a pair of pre-anal supplements but no median series.  Submedian papillae are absent.
