Distribution: 
Nationwide in small streams and reservoirs, prefers calm water

Origin:
Eastern North America

Characteristics:
Slender, translucent, very small with a silver line down its back 

Impacts:
There are no major impacts from this fish in Nebraska, however it has been known to out compete other baitfish in some states such as Oklahoma

Management: 
No steps have been taken to control this fish in Nebraska

The Brook Silverside was introduced into the Platte River, Nebraska, as well as reservoirs and several lakes in the drainage.  The species was accidentally introduced in Nebraska at the Sutherland cooling pond in July 1979.
