Distribution:  
Several states throughout the U.S.

Origin:  
Europe and Asia

Characteristics:  
Golden bronze coloring with red fins, accidentally introduced with other baitfish

Impacts:  
Can harm native plants

Rudd were reported from Lake Ogallala , Platte River drainage, near Ogallala in Nebraska in 1993 or 1994. In addition to Lake Ogallala, the Rudd recently has been recorded from other reservoirs in the western two-thirds of the state including Calamus, Sherman, and Sutherland, and possibly others.  Bait bucket release seems to be the primary mechanism by which Rudd have gained access into open waters.
