My primary interest is in the evolutionary biology of plant parasitic nematodes. Most of the research in my lab focuses on questions of systematicsor evolutionary genetics. Since so many nematodes are agricultural pests, developing diagnostic methods is also part of the business. We favor molecular methods, particularly in light of their versatility and the nature of nematodes. One ongoing project is the characterization of all the nematodes in a single location, using a standard set of molecular characters. I hope this effort to assess nematode biodiversity will show up in the Nematode Home Page soon.
I am currently teaching a class on invasive species-  Biological Invaders  fall semesters at UNL.
