Definition: Rhabditinae.  Relatively small nematodes.  Lips lobate, strongly cuticularized and, in some species, deeply incised.  Stoma long and narrow, never prismatic.  Metarhabdions each carry 2 inclined teeth.  Anterior part of oesophagus marked with transverse ridging; a median bulb present.  No deinite oesophageal collar.  Vulva posterior and ovary single, prodelpic; female tail conical or stilletto-shaped.  Bursa peloderan, open and not radially arranged.  Spicules long and slender, proximally knobbed, distally fused.  2 pairs of preanal papillae.
