Body fusiform with 33-194 annules, generally coarse and retrorse with plain, irregular, or finely serrated margins.  Stylet knobs with forwardly directed processes.  Lateral area of female sometimes marked by union of anastomosing annules but without longitudinal lines or incisures.  Tail short and conical or broadly rounded.  Males with two, three, or four incisures in the lateral fields that extend on to the tail on narrow caudal alae that reach almost to the terminus.  Development through juveniles that have smooth or crenated annules or with rows of scalelike cuticular protrusions.  (Mostly from Raski and Golden, 1966.)
