Some time ago I was able to hatch some eggs without openning the cysts but definetely the number of JJ2 was affected. All the eggs and cyst debris pass through but we haven't counted how many eggs are damaged. We use the technique for making up inoculum. I believe the sieve method damages eggs less than the teflon tissue grinder method we once tried. This tissue grinder is like a miniature and closely fitting mortar and pestle but there is room in the tube for eggs to pass. Chris C.F.
