I'll be arriving in San Jose at 11 am on Tues, July 6 and would like to share the cost of a private shuttle with one or more people arriving at a similar time. The cost is $99 one way and $10 per additional passenger. Please contact me as soon as possible if you are interested. If you call them they will try to arrange departure times convenient to several travellers so that the cost can be shared. Tell them that you are attending the meeting at the Marriott. The contact person to call is Carol Planchon at (831)-646-LIMO; the company is called Main Events (I think). Good Luck. See you in Monterey. In case you do not know me, do'nt worry. In case you do not know the PINC, please have a look at our website. You may be aware about the heavy task of making publicity around nematodes, making them beloved by governments, etc. Things even become worse if you have to persuade the government about the importance of a nematology course.... At the latest hearing with government people I was asked to gather information about Nematology Courses (national or international) all over the world. So here I am to disturb you. Can you help me answering following questions or contacting me with people who might answer them 1. period since when this course is running, frequency, duration 2. target audience 3. admission requirements 4. number of participants 5. background of the participant: which degree , from which institutions, students? 6. available grants for participants 7. follow -up of the participants 8. geographical distribution of the participants I hope this is not too overwhelming. I can assure you that this information is of high importance for the future of nematology. Thanking you very much in advance. Yours sincerely, Nic Smol ========================================================================= Date: Mon, 19 Jul 1999 07:14:20 -0700 Reply-To: NEMA Discussion List Sender: NEMA Discussion List From: catherine wambui Organization: MailCity (http://www.mailcity.lycos.com:80) Subject: Info on nematode pests MIME-version: 1.0 Content-type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-transfer-encoding: 7bit I am preparing datasheets on the following nematode pests, and am looking for information on taxonomy, biology, host range and distribution of these pests. The address is: http://sacs.cpes.peachnet.edu/nemabc The web site contains the complete Biological Control of Nematodes slide set (60 slides) that was issued by the SON in 1990. These images can be downloaded and made into slides for research or classroom presentations. However, images should not appear in printed or electronic form without prior approval of the photographer. The web site is only partially complete. The following areas are most in need of input from experts in the field: Directory of Researchers - There are more researchers working on biological control of nematodes than are currently listed in the online directory. If you are working on some aspect of biocontrol of plant- or animal-parasitic nematodes and would like to be in the directory, please send me the name of your institution, organisms you work on, e-mail address, and web page if you have one. We are currently restricting the directory to control of nematodes, not nematodes as biocontrol agents of insects or weeds. Predators of Nematodes - I need someone to write a brief description of predators. If need be, we can have a separate page for each of the major nematode predators: mites, nematodes, insects, tardigrades, protozoans, etc. Rhizobacteria - I need someone to write a brief description of antagonistic rhizobacteria. I am also in desperate need of images. Antagonistic rhizobacteria don't seem to be as photogenic as fungi, Pasteuria, or predators - please prove me wrong by supplying me with some nice photos or illustrations (you will be properly acknowledged). Comments, suggestions for improvement, and more images are welcome. For sending images, jpeg or gif is the preferred format. Because of space/size limitations, only the best images will be uploaded onto the web site.
