This species has been recorded from Nebraska (Morris et al. 1974).
During the late 1800s the U.S. Fish Commission raised the species and was
responsible for distributing it to many states, mainly to meet the demand
for fish for aquaria, fountains, and ornamental lakes (McDonald 1887, 1893).
Johnson and Becker (1980) stated that some goldfish were introduced to
Wisconsin through a fish exchange program with the Nebraska Fish Commission
in the early 1900s.
