Distribution: 
Nationwide

Origin: 
Europe and Western Asia

Characteristics:
Has prominent spots on back and sides, often red or orange

Impacts: 
Compete with native species for food and habitat

Management: 
Managed as a sport fish in Nebraska

This trout is documented for nearly every state, including Nebraska.  Brown trout have been implicated in reducing native fish populations (especially other salmonids) through predation, displacement, and food competition.
