Genus Akrotonus

Diagnosis: Medium-sized nematodes, 2.0 mm long.
Cuticle thick, marked with fine transverse striations. Lip region
rounded, papillae not interfering with its contour. Amphidial foveae
two-thirds head width, shallow, cyathiform. Odontostyle wide, aperture
three-fifths length. Four elongate gland-like structures extend backwards
from point opposite to middle of spear and almost reach nerve ring.
Oesophagus gradually enlarging in basal three-fifths of its length.
Cardiac disc thin, attached to disk-like cardia. Female reproductive
system amphidelphic. Vulva a transverse slit with muscular labia.
Spicules almost straight; ventromedian supplements only two. Tail
short, conoid; similar in sexes.
