Criconemoides annulatus Cobb, in Taylor, 1936

Body cylindroid except at extremities. Annules about 130, rounded, not retrorse, even near head. Less than 10 instances of anastomosis in striae. Occasional slight bends in striae along lateral lines. Labial disc almost submerged in anteriorly cupped annule. Spear 76u long, with massive muscles attached to cephalic arches. Esophagus about as long as spear. Excretory pore posterior to esophagus. Ovary outstretched or with double flexure, sometimes reaching to esophagus, the oocytes in single file. Spermatheca not present at anterior end of uterus. Vulva only 5 annules from terminus with easily visible musculature. Anus almost terminal, opening between annules.

Criconemoides annulatus is distinctive because of the rounded head and tail, non-retrorse annules, spear length and almost terminal anus.

Habitat: Two females from forest soil by river 2 miles east of Wauneta, Nebraska.
