Flint Hills Tall Grassland

 

An area encompassing several thousand miles in the Central Great Plains of the United States (east-central Kansas and northern Oklahoma). This area is temperate tall grassland, with underlying rock formations of limestone, shale and flint- giving the area its name. The thin soils atop this area's limestone hills support very few trees.
