Central Tall Grasslands

Matoon Prairie- near Lincoln, Nebraska
Nematode Surveys from this Region:

This region was once dominated by tall grasses such as big bluestem, little bluestem, switchgrass, and Indian grass, along with many species of herbaceous plants. Because this region has such rich soils, it is excellent for farming and now is dominated by fields of row crops- primarily corn and soybeans. Little of the original vegetation remains, most of the intact undisturbed tracts are very small.
