Education
- Higher Degree :University of Reading, Reading, Berkshire, UK.
October 1991- August 1995. PhD, Thesis title: Biological Control of the
Black Vine Weevil, Otiorhynchus sulcatus (F.) (Coleoptera: Curculionidae),
with Entomopathogenic Nematodes (Nematoda: Steinernematidae and Heterorhabditidae).
Supervisor:Dr N.G.M. Hague. Details: The efficacy of different nematode
species and strains was determined for the black vine weevil in the laboratory.
This work was then extended to glasshouse and field trials. The suitability
of the T-Tape irrigation system as a method to rapidly and successfully
distribute nematodes along and across strawberry raised beds in the field.
Persistence and recycling of the nematodes subsequent to application was
monitored. Developmental studies investigated the basic biology of the
nematodes within the insect host, providing the opportunity to understand
betterthe host- parasite interaction, and improve the use of entomopathogenic
nematodes.
- Postgraduate :University of Reading, Reading, Berkshire, UK.
October 1990- September 1991. MSc Technology of Crop Protection. Details:
Nematology, Entomology, Plant Pathology, Weed Science, Plant Breeding for
Resistence to Pests and Diseases, Pesticide Chemistry, Statistics. Thesis

spp.
- University of Reading, Reading, Berkshire, UK. January 1994- October
1994. Part time technician in the Crop Protection Research Unit of the
University of Reading.
- University of Reading, Reading, Berkshire, UK. September 1992- April
